CDCP Benefits

To apply for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), you must complete an online application through a dedicated portal that verifies your eligibility based on income, residency, and insurance status. The required documentation includes proof of income (such as tax returns or pay stubs), proof of residency (like a government-issued ID or utility bill), and evidence that you do not have private dental insurance. These documentation requirements ensure the program is accessible to those who need it most.

When Can I Start Using CDCP Benefits?

The timeline for when you can start using the CDCP depends on your eligibility group. Seniors aged 65 and above have been eligible since December 2023. Children under 18 and adults with disabilities could apply starting in June 2024, while the broader Canadian population is due to gain access in 2025. However, once your application is approved, coverage begins immediately.

For more details on eligibility and the specific application process, it’s best to consult official resources or reach out to your local dental office for guidance through the process and help with any questions.

Children's Dentistry

Sealants are a thin coating of tooth-coloured composite resin that our dentists use to cover the surface of your little one's molars, filling in any pits and grooves that could harbour bacteria or plaque and become problematic.

Dental sealants offer extra protection against tooth decay and cavities to developing teeth, helping your child avoid dental procedures like tooth fillings.

young girl and boy smiling on a tennis courtWhen Do We Recommend Dental Sealants in North York?

Our dentists typically recommend dental sealants for children or adults who are prone to tooth decay, because they are an added layer of protection.

Children typically haven't developed their brushing skills yet and may tend to miss areas that could be prone to tooth decay when they're brushing and flossing. Dental sealants protect them by keeping bacteria away from their chewing surfaces.

Dental sealants are a non-invasive treatment procedure that we can complete during one visit, and often without the need for anesthetic. Many dental insurance plans even provide coverage for dental sealants as a preventive procedure.

Reach Out to Emery Village Dental

If you'd like to learn about dental sealants for your child, contact Emery Village Dental at (437) 900-8266. We love caring for children and provide children's dentistry in North York that you can trust!

Dr. Moore loves taking care of children and suggests they have their first dental visit around one-year-old. This may seem early, but it allows your little one to acclimate to dental appointments and start to feel comfortable in "the big chair."

We spend those first visits just helping them feel at ease at their children's dentist and counting their teeth. Then, as they grow and get used to visiting the dentist, we'll incorporate teeth cleanings into their dental appointment.

Eventually, as they grow and develop, we may offer fluoride treatments to strengthen small teeth and dental sealants to protect them from cavities.

Mouth Guards to Help Protect Teeth

If your child participates in sports, our dentists can recommend a suitable mouth guard to protect their teeth and mouth. In addition, sports injuries account for nearly half of dental emergencies, so protecting your son or daughter's smile during sports activities is essential.

We also offer comprehensive orthodontic treatment at Emery Village Dental. So if your son or daughter needs their teeth aligned, it's easy to get everything done for their smiles in one convenient location.

If you have concerns or questions about your little one's dental health, or if it's time to schedule their next dental visit, please give Emery Village Dental a call today. Dr. Moore is the children's dentist in North York that parents trust.

Cosmetic Dentistry

This answer differs for every patient based on their unique habits and lifestyle. For example, if you are a tobacco user, your teeth are going to become discoloured more quickly than someone who doesn't use tobacco or smokes cigarettes.

Generally, with good oral hygiene habits and regular visits with your dentist, you can expect your teeth whitening to last for several months.

Protecting Your Bright Smile

Keeping your teeth white and bright requires an understanding of what causes tooth staining and discolouration, so here's a list:

  • Certain acidic foods and beverages
  • Smoking or tobacco use
  • Aging
  • Poor dental hygiene
  • Certain medications

You can take steps to protect your bright smile with a consistent home care routine and bi-annual preventive teeth cleanings and checkups with your North York cosmetic dentist.

Some of the tooth-staining foods and drinks to be aware of are:

  • Black coffee and tea
  • Dark berries, like blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries
  • Tomatoes or marinara sauce
  • Curries
  • Soy sauce
  • Red wine
  • Dark cola

While you don't have to avoid tooth-staining foods and drinks entirely, it's essential to be mindful of their effects. Drinking plenty of water when you consume them can help mitigate their staining properties.

Cosmetic Dentistry Can Improve Oral Health

When you restore broken, worn or damaged teeth, it also enhances your smile and improves your dental health. In addition, properly aligning your teeth makes brushing and flossing easier, reducing your chances of developing problems like tooth decay and gum disease.

Having a healthy and beautiful smile also builds your self-confidence and may even help you reach your personal and professional goals. In addition, when you can interact confidently with other people, it enhances your relationships.

So if you're considering making changes to the appearance of your smile, our dentists would love to review your options and discuss the benefits with you. They'll gather the information they need to design your ideal smile during an evaluation. They'll perform a thorough exam and take x-rays and photos of your teeth.

woman getting her teeth whitened in north york How Philips Zoom Whitening Works

During an in-office whitening treatment with Philips Zoom Whitening, our team starts by applying a protective barrier around your gum tissue to keep bleaching gel from causing irritation. Next, we'll apply the prescription strength bleaching gel that's right for your needs and use the Philips Zoom Blue LED light, which accelerates the whitening process.

The Zoom ingredients and system are also designed to reduce the tooth sensitivity that often accompanies bleaching your teeth.

The Philips Zoom Whitening system also has take-home products that you can use to complete teeth whitening at home when it's convenient for you or update your in-office teeth whitening treatment.

Crowns and Bridges

A dental bridge is an artificial tooth (or two teeth) attached to dental crowns—one crown on either side of the restoration tooth. Your North York dentist cements the crowns over healthy teeth, which allows the bridge teeth to close the gap in your smile.

If you’re considering a dental bridge or are new to bridgework, you likely wonder how to care for this type of fixed prosthetic.

Dental Bridge Care and Upkeep

We often recommend a floss threader to keep debris away from the gumline. A special cleaning brush keeps the bridge clean and looking its best. A dental team member will talk to you about these accessories and show you how to use them.

Additionally, visiting your dentist regularly for dental exams and teeth cleanings would be best. And talk to your dentist if you grind your teeth (bruxism).

If you notice the bridge is damaged or feels loose, contact your dentist as soon as possible.

Remember, a prosthetic cannot decay, but failure to keep it clean can result in gum disease and oral health issues that lead to bridge failure.

Are You Considering a Dental Bridge in North York?

Contact us if you would like to learn more about our tooth replacement options, including the dental bridge. Additionally, if you’d like to schedule a tooth replacement consultation with the dentist, a team member is standing by to get you scheduled today.

A dental bridge is up to two prosthetic teeth situated between dental crowns. The dental crowns are cemented over healthy teeth, allowing the prosthetics to restore your smile. With your new bridge, you’ll be able to smile confidently, enjoy your meals, and better maintain your oral health.

dental bridgeMissing teeth can impact your self-esteem and make it difficult to enjoy meals. Additionally, tooth loss can influence your future oral health.

At Emery Village Dental, we’re committed to helping you maintain a healthy and beautiful smile through tooth replacement. One way we achieve this is with the dental bridge.

How Do You Clean a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge requires only a few extra minutes added to your oral hygiene routine. We recommend a floss threader and a special cleaning brush to clean your bridge and clear bacteria from the gumline. A team member will show you how to use these things following bridge placement. It’s also important to visit your dentist regularly.

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that your North York dentist secures over a prepared tooth. It is customized to look like your teeth in shape and colour. The crown restores stability and conceals unsightly tooth blemishes. Tooth crowns also work in the capacity of tooth replacement.

dental crown in north yorkIf you’ve had a root canal or tooth trauma, you’ve likely had a crown. The dental crown is the final step in most cases because it restores stability.

Custom Dental Crowns in North York

The tooth crown is one option to conceal discolouration, chips, shape issues, and more in cosmetic dentistry.

Dental crowns secure bridge teeth to healthy teeth for patients undergoing tooth replacement and cap dental implant posts.

Fortunately, dental crowns are easy to take care of and require no added oral hygiene steps. Like natural teeth, you brush, floss, and see your dentist regularly for checkups and dental cleanings. Your dental crown can withstand decades of use with proper care and regular dental visits!

Dental Implants

The answer is yes! If you have dental implants, you'll still need routine teeth cleanings and checkups every six months.

If you have full dentures with no natural teeth remaining, a checkup once per year to evaluate the fit of your denture and the health of your mouth is necessary.

If you have a partial denture with healthy teeth remaining, you will need a professional dental cleaning and checkup every six months.

Caring for Dental Implants in North York

Excellent home care and routine checkups with your dentist are integral to caring for your dental implant and keeping it healthy.

Infection is the enemy of a dental implant, causing it to fail. When you keep your teeth clean and bacteria-free, you also protect your dental health and promote the longevity of your tooth implant.

Caring for Dentures in North York

Traditional removable dentures rely on a snug fit to your jawbone to stay in place. This can wear on your jawbone, causing deterioration over time that can impact the fit of your denture.

Most patients need a denture reline periodically to ensure a snug and comfortable fit for their appliance.

Our dentists can help determine the right schedule for checkups and denture maintenance. Contact your North York dentist at (437) 900-8266 if it's time for your next dental appointment.

Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that restores both your tooth and your root since the implant itself acts as your new root, and a porcelain crown replaces your tooth.

older man and woman smiling Missing Teeth Can Lead to Bone Loss

While losing a root may not seem like a big deal, it can actually result in bone loss. When your bone deteriorates, you may lose support for surrounding teeth, and it can even change the appearance of your face.

Dental implants give you the look, feel, and function of a natural tooth. They're also easy to care for since you'll be able to brush and floss them just like you would your natural teeth.

Proper Care of Dental Implants

Tooth implants in North York can provide you with excellent longevity when you commit to a consistent home care routine along with preventive teeth cleanings and checkups with your dentist every six months. With excellent care, your implant could even last for a lifetime, making it a wise, long-term investment in your smile and dental health.

Replacing a lost tooth not only restores your smile but also keeps neighbouring teeth from shifting and moving, ultimately resulting in bite misalignment that could promote jaw joint issues.

General Dentistry

During your routine dental exam every six months, our dentists check for signs of early problems like gum disease, tooth decay, and cavities. These conditions are best treated early on before they progress and require more complex treatment procedures.

Our dentists will also check the health of your current restorations to ensure that no wear or breakdown could become problematic for you in the future. Restorations of the breakdown, like crowns, fillings, veneers, or bridges, may require repair or replacement in the future to maintain their function.

What Happens If I Need Treatment?

Our dentists will review any treatment needs and procedure options with you, if it's needed. We educate our patients about their dental health so they're empowered to make the best decisions about their dental health and their treatment needs.

We'll also review the cost of treatment and your payment options, taking into consideration your dental insurance if you have any benefits. We also work with third-party financing through the Affirm Payment Program that can help our patients successfully fit their treatment into their monthly budgets.

Contact your North York dentist if it's time to schedule your next dental exam and teeth cleaning or if you have questions about your payment options.

Most healthy patients can successfully manage their dental health with professional teeth cleanings and checkups every six months. However, patients managing gum disease may need extra teeth cleanings during the year.

Many people wonder why they must visit their North York dentist regularly if their teeth are not bothering or hurting them. The reason is that dentistry is all about prevention. If we can catch problems as early as possible, treating them with the least expensive and most minor procedures is likely easier. So your preventive checkups and dental cleanings actually save you time and money in the long term.

Periodontal Treatment to Prevent Gum Disease

Gum disease is a prevalent condition among adults over the age of 30. It's an infection of the soft tissues and bone that support your teeth. The inflammation that causes gum disease also contributes to other non-dental related health concerns like heart disease and diabetes, and vice versa.

Detecting gum disease in its early stage, known as gingivitis, can help you successfully manage it and even reverse it in some cases. Unfortunately, periodontitis, advanced gum disease, can be controlled but never cured.

Sometimes it isn't easy to know when to visit your dentist. Some conditions that are considered dental emergencies are:

  • Broken teeth
  • Lost or broken dental restorations like a filling or crown
  • A dislodged or knocked-out tooth
  • Dental pain or a toothache

Emergency Dental Care in North York, ON

If you're not sure that your condition is a true dental emergency, don't wait to contact our North York dental office. We'll assess your situation over the phone and help determine if you need immediate attention.

Some of the treatments for a tooth emergency our dentists might recommend are:

  • Root canal treatment - alleviates infection and preserves your natural tooth structure
  • Tooth-coloured fillings - eliminates the discomfort of tooth decay
  • Porcelain crowns - repairs the damage caused by tooth decay or a fracture
  • Tooth extraction - a worst-case scenario when we can't save your tooth

Gum Surgeries

Have you ever felt like your teeth are too short? Or that you have a "gummy" smile? Do these issues cause you to feel self-conscious about the appearance of your smile?

Gum contouring may be the solution you need to enhance your smile.

Gum contouring is a procedure that uses a dental laser to eliminate the excess gum tissue that's covering your teeth and hiding your smile.

man smiling in dental chair in north yorkHow Does Gum Contouring Work?

During gum contouring treatment, the laser combines heat and light into a precise point that removes the excess tissue and shapes it appealingly around your tooth. With the laser, there's no need for cutting during your procedure, which accelerates healing time.

We can typically complete gum contouring during a straightforward procedure at our North York dental office. Depending on how much tissue we remove, your healing time can be a few days to a couple weeks. You'll need to stick to soft foods for the first few days and be careful and gentle during oral hygiene for the first week or two.

Gum grafting surgery is a procedure that grafts healthy soft tissue from other areas of your mouth and replaces the lost tissue around your teeth. The new tissue integrates over a period of about two weeks with your remaining tissue providing better support and protection for the roots of your teeth.

Instead of referring you to a specialist, Dr. Joo has the skills and training to perform gum grafting surgery here at our North York dental office.

close up of gums being checked at dentistWhy You Might Need Gum Grafting

When you suffer from periodontal disease, an infection attacks your gums and soft tissues. The infection can cause gum recession, and unfortunately, your gums won't heal or regenerate independently. When your gums recede, your roots may become exposed, which can be very painful and also allows bacteria to reach your jawbone.

Periodontal Disease Prevention

Gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss in adults. However, it is also a condition that you may be able to avoid with an excellent home care routine and consistent visits to your dentist every six months for teeth cleanings and checkups.

Contact Emery Village Dental

If you would like more information about gum surgery in North York, or if it's time to schedule your next teeth cleaning and checkup, please don't hesitate to call Emery Village Dental.

Orthodontic Treatment

If you are a teen or adult who wants your teeth to be straighter, you may be a candidate for Invisalign clear aligners. Instead of traditional metal braces, Invisalign technology allows you to wear custom-fit clear braces to slowly move your teeth into the desired position. Not only are they nearly invisible, but you can also remove them to eat, brush, and floss.

invisalign clear aligners from North YorkWhat Are the Invisalign Care Instructions in North York?

Once you are fitted for your Invisalign clear aligners in North York, it will be important to care for them as your dentist prescribes. The care instructions are as follows:

  • You must clean your Invisalign trays daily by brushing them in the morning and at night when you brush your teeth. Use a soft toothbrush and regular toothpaste. Do NOT use anything abrasive on them.
  • When you take your aligners out to eat, you should rinse them to remove any bacteria that may have formed on them.
  • Use the Invisalign cleaning crystals to soak your aligners each day for fifteen minutes. After soaking them, simply brush them off with your toothbrush.
  • Always take your aligners out when eating or drinking so you don’t stain or damage them.
  • To avoid losing your clear aligners, always store them in their case when you remove them. You don’t want to lose them or throw them away accidentally.

Would You Like More Information About Invisalign Care?

Call Emery Village Dental at (437) 900-8266, and someone on our dental team can answer all your questions.

Invisalign is an innovative option that uses clear plastic aligners instead of unsightly metal brackets and wires to straighten the teeth of teens and adults.

close up of woman using InvisalignHow Invisalign Works

Imagine wearing smooth, snug-fitting plastic trays that fit over your teeth and apply gentle pressure to move them into alignment. This is exactly how Invisalign works! You'll wear each series of trays for about two weeks and then move on to the next.

You can easily change your trays out at home, so you don't have to constantly visit your dentist. However, you will check in periodically with your dentist to ensure that your smile progresses as planned.

Benefits of Using Invisalign in North York

Patients love Invisalign for these reasons:

  • Discretion: Trays are virtually invisible
  • Comfort: There are no pokey metal wires or brackets to make you uncomfortable
  • Freedom: There are no dietary restrictions with Invisalign like there are with braces
  • Ease: Eating, brushing, and flossing are simple with removable clear aligners
  • Efficiency: Most patients can finish their treatment in around 12 to 18 months, depending on their needs

If you'd like to learn more about invisible braces in North York, contact Emery Village Dental today at (437) 900-8266 to schedule an evaluation.

At Emery Village Dental, we are thrilled to provide comprehensive orthodontic treatment for adults that includes both traditional braces and Invisalign.

Imagine being able to straighten your teeth and get professional teeth cleanings done throughout your treatment, all at the same convenient location

Man smiling with braces from a north york dentistTraditional Orthodontics for Adults

Traditional braces offer adults with complex bite issues the chance to straighten their teeth and correct their bite with brackets and wires. Straighter teeth promote better dental health since they are easier to keep clean when you brush and floss.

A properly aligned bite makes chewing and eating more comfortable and helps you avoid painful problems with your jaw joint.

More straightforward cases may have the option to straighten their teeth with invisible braces in North York through Invisalign.

Invisalign in North York

Instead of using brackets and wires, Invisalign offers busy adults the opportunity to straighten their teeth with clear plastic aligners. Clear aligners will gradually move your teeth when you wear them consistently for at least 22 hours each day.

Adult patients love the convenience and discretion that Invisalign treatment offers. Aligners are smooth, comfortable to wear, and hardly noticeable. They're also removable, so you don't have to change your diet or your brushing and flossing routine throughout your treatment.

Root Canal Treatment

If you are scheduled for root canal therapy at your dentist in North York, you may be a little anxious about the procedure and what to expect afterward. Root canals are a standard procedure for dentists, so there is no need to be nervous. Here is what you need to know.

diagram of tooth root structureWhat Is a Root Canal?

If you get an infection in one of your teeth, you may require a root canal. This simple procedure will alleviate any pain you might be feeling from the infection and help you feel instantly better.

The dentist will:

  • Numb the area.
  • Open the top of the infected tooth and remove the infection.
  • Seal the area with a temporary filling and send you home to allow the area to heal.
  • Later, add a crown to reinstate the strength and functionality of your tooth.

What Can I Expect After a Root Canal?

Here are some essential tips to follow after your root canal procedure:

  • You can drive yourself home or back to work since the dentist will use a local anesthetic.
  • It would be best not to bite down or chew anything on the tooth where the root canal was performed until your dental crown is in place. Your mouth will be numb for a few hours, so you should be careful about chewing.
  • You should brush and floss normally to keep the area clean and avoid infection.

Do You Have Questions About Root Canal Recovery in North York?

If so, our dental team will give you all the information you need to get started. Call Emery Village Dental today.

A root canal, or root canal treatment, is necessary when a patient’s oral health is at risk. A patient may require a root canal if they have or experience any of the following:

  • A cracked tooth from genetics or injury
  • A deep cavity
  • Issues from previous dental fillings
  • Sensitivity to hot or cold sensations (e.g., foods, liquids)
  • Severe pain while biting or chewing
  • Pimples or bumps on the gums
  • A cracked tooth
  • Swollen or tender gums
  • Darkening gums

If your dentist recommends root canal treatment, there’s no need to worry. Emery Village Dental provides patients with gentle, pain-free root canals. A root canal treatment eliminates bacteria from an infected root canal and prevents reinfection, ultimately saving the natural tooth from extraction or loss.

Root canal treatment involves your dentist numbing the area and carefully removing the infected or inflamed pulp from within the tooth. We then gently and thoroughly clean the tooth, fill the empty canal, and seal it with a custom-made dental crown.

Sedation Dentistry

north york woman covering mouth from fear of dentistIf you or a loved one experiences dental anxiety, your team at Emery Village Dental can help! We offer several types of dental sedation that can help you relax and feel at ease in the dental chair, whether you're having your teeth cleaned or a tooth replaced.

Nitrous Oxide Dental Sedation

The mildest form of dental sedation we offer is nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, which you inhale through a mask worn during your procedure. Nitrous oxide helps you relax quickly, and then it leaves your system quickly once we remove your mask.

IV Sedation for Dental Anxiety

IV sedation provides a level of relaxation that is similar to sleeping through your dental procedures. Dr. Joo delivers medication intravenously while monitoring your vitals and heart rate. IV sedation may be helpful for patients with special needs or severe anxiety.

If you're interested in learning more about dental sedation in North York, ON, please get in touch with your team at Emery Village Dental today by calling (437) 900-8266.

At Emery Village Dental, we offer several levels of sedation for your comfort. We often hear questions about sedation dentistry, like "How long does it take for the effects of dental sedation to wear off?" or "Will I need someone to accompany me home after my appointment?"

Today we will review the different types of dental sedation in North York that we offer, and what you can expect.

Nitrous Oxide in North York

Nitrous oxide is one of the lightest levels of sedation that we can use with most types of procedures.

It's delivered through a mask you wear during your procedure; it's a combination of nitrous oxide and oxygen. When we remove the mask after you complete your procedure, the nitrous leaves your system without any lingering side effects.

IV Sedation

This is the deepest level of sedation we offer. Medication is delivered intravenously and adjusted as needed throughout your procedure while we monitor your heart rate and vital signs continually.

This type of sedation is ideal for those with severe dental phobias, a lot of procedures to complete at once, or special needs.

Contact Emery Village Dental about your options for sedation dentistry in North York.

Anyone who has fears or feels anxiety about visiting the dentist is a good candidate for sedation dentistry. Dental sedation is also ideal for patients with special needs, physical or mental disabilities, bad gag reflexes, extensive treatment needs, severe dental phobia, and difficulties sitting for long periods.

Sedation Dentistry in North York

At Emery Village Dental, we are happy to offer three levels of sedation to help anxious patients get the dental care they need.

  • Nitrous Oxide—A lighter option that helps take the edge off without leaving you with lingering side effects.
  • IV Sedation—The deepest level of sedation we offer that allows you to completely relax and feel like you're sleeping through your procedure.

If you're interested in using dental sedation for treatment procedures, our dentists can help determine which option would be the best for your needs.

When choosing IV sedation, you'll need transportation arranged to and from your appointment, and you'll need to plan on resting afterward. Taking time off from work with these options is a good idea.

Patients who suffer from the painful symptoms of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) may be plagued with problems like frequent headaches or migraines, or tenderness when they bite or chew. This can become quite painful for some people, and it may greatly diminish their quality of life.

BOTOX® is an excellent solution for some patients who suffer from TMD because it relaxes the temporal muscles that may be causing their discomfort. Better yet, the effects of BOTOX® can last up to four months in some cases, which can provide ongoing relief and improved quality of life.

Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is a disorder that impacts your jaw joint (TMJ). If you suffer from TMD, you may notice these symptoms:

  • Pain and tenderness when chewing and eating
  • Neck and shoulder pain
  • Frequent headaches
  • Jaw locking open or closed
  • Popping or clicking of the jaw joint
  • Clenching or grinding (bruxism)

If you suffer from multiple symptoms, it can be quite debilitating and significantly impact your quality of life. Left untreated, TMD can result in more discomfort and degeneration of the jaw joint.

You may also experience tooth wear or damage if bruxism is causing your TMD.

How Do We Treat TMD?

At Emery Village Dental, we take time to determine the root cause of your problem before we suggest TMJ treatment.

For example, if bruxism is causing your TMD, our dentists may recommend a nightguard for you to wear during sleep, which protects your teeth from the damage and wear that bruxism causes.

The most effective way to identify suitable treatment for your TMD is to arrange an evaluation with one of our experienced dentists. They will work closely with you to pinpoint the root cause of your discomfort and guide you toward the most effective treatment plan.

If you're ready to take the first step towards relieving your TMD symptoms, book an evaluation with your North York dentist at (437) 900-8266. They will provide you with more information on how we can help you manage your TMD effectively.

We are happy to provide TMJ treatment in North York, ON. If you have TMJ or suspect you might, it’s essential to visit our dental office for a proper diagnosis and treatment. Over time, TMJ symptoms can worsen and impact daily life quality.

TMJ is really an acronym for the temporomandibular joint—the hinge-like construction that connects your jaw to your skull. However, TMJ is often used to describe disorders of this joint as opposed to the joint itself. It may also be referenced as a temporomandibular joint disorder or TMD.

If you have TMJ, you may notice the following symptoms:

  • Clicking sound in the joint
  • Jaw locking or popping
  • Painful yawning and chewing
  • Head, neck, and shoulder pain

If your TMJ is related to a condition called bruxism (teeth grinding), you may also notice a bulky appearance around the lower face, tooth wear, jaw pain, and dental fractures.

Our dental office offers appliance therapy and BOTOX® to help treat TMJ and bruxism. The appliance fits over the teeth and prevents nocturnal grinding. BOTOX relaxes the muscles around the TMJ, allowing them time to heal.
