North York Dental Crowns and Bridges

One of your biggest assets is your smile, especially in today’s fast-paced, digital world. But, unfortunately, most of us will encounter problems with our teeth at some point, like decay, fractures, or even tooth loss.

The good news is that your team at Emery Village Dental offers solutions for damaged or broken teeth that are aesthetically appealing and also effective for eating and chewing.

The Benefits of Tooth Crowns for Your Smile

Dental crowns are an excellent treatment solution for fractured, decayed, or damaged teeth. They protect the integrity of your root and natural tooth. Here are some additional advantages they provide.

Restored Function

Chewing, eating, and enjoying food is easier when your teeth are properly aligned and in good repair.

Enhanced Aesthetics

A porcelain crown is designed to match your surrounding teeth and blend seamlessly into your smile.

Bite Stabilization

Restoring a compromised tooth keeps neighbouring teeth from the shifting that causes bite misalignment.

Easy Home Care

You can brush and floss a dental crown just like you would a natural tooth for simple and convenient home care.

Improved Oral Health

When you restore your compromised tooth to health, it improves and enhances your overall oral health.

Frequently Asked Questions

A dental bridge is up to two prosthetic teeth situated between dental crowns. The dental crowns are cemented over healthy teeth, allowing the prosthetics to restore your smile. With your new bridge, you’ll be able to smile confidently, enjoy your meals, and better maintain your oral health.

dental bridgeMissing teeth can impact your self-esteem and make it difficult to enjoy meals. Additionally, tooth loss can influence your future oral health.

At Emery Village Dental, we’re committed to helping you maintain a healthy and beautiful smile through tooth replacement. One way we achieve this is with the dental bridge.

How Do You Clean a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge requires only a few extra minutes added to your oral hygiene routine. We recommend a floss threader and a special cleaning brush to clean your bridge and clear bacteria from the gumline. A team member will show you how to use these things following bridge placement. It’s also important to visit your dentist regularly.

A dental bridge is an artificial tooth (or two teeth) attached to dental crowns—one crown on either side of the restoration tooth. Your North York dentist cements the crowns over healthy teeth, which allows the bridge teeth to close the gap in your smile.

If you’re considering a dental bridge or are new to bridgework, you likely wonder how to care for this type of fixed prosthetic.

Dental Bridge Care and Upkeep

We often recommend a floss threader to keep debris away from the gumline. A special cleaning brush keeps the bridge clean and looking its best. A dental team member will talk to you about these accessories and show you how to use them.

Additionally, visiting your dentist regularly for dental exams and teeth cleanings would be best. And talk to your dentist if you grind your teeth (bruxism).

If you notice the bridge is damaged or feels loose, contact your dentist as soon as possible.

Remember, a prosthetic cannot decay, but failure to keep it clean can result in gum disease and oral health issues that lead to bridge failure.

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that your North York dentist secures over a prepared tooth. It is customized to look like your teeth in shape and colour. The crown restores stability and conceals unsightly tooth blemishes. Tooth crowns also work in the capacity of tooth replacement.

Custom Dental Crowns in North York

The tooth crown is one option to conceal discolouration, chips, shape issues, and more in cosmetic dentistry.

Dental crowns secure bridge teeth to healthy teeth for patients undergoing tooth replacement and cap dental implant posts.

Fortunately, dental crowns are easy to take care of and require no added oral hygiene steps. Like natural teeth, you brush, floss, and see your dentist regularly for checkups and dental cleanings. Your dental crown can withstand decades of use with proper care and regular dental visits!

The Role of Dental Crowns

dental crowns from North YorkTooth crowns are an excellent solution for broken or decayed teeth that are beyond what a dental filling can repair. Your North York dentist may recommend a crown in these situations:

  • To restore a tooth that has had root canal treatment
  • To cover a tooth that’s severely broken, fractured, or decayed
  • As a restoration for a dental implant
  • For replacing an old restoration that’s broken or lost

A dental crown is designed to completely cover your remaining tooth structure with a porcelain restoration that closely matches your tooth in shape and shade. A crown reaches all the way to your gum line and protects your remaining tooth structure and your root.

You can rely on the durability of your crown for eating and chewing the foods you love. Customizable ceramic porcelain provides an exact match to your smile and the look you want.

When You Need a Dental Bridge in North York

Dental bridges are a non-surgical solution for replacing one or more adjacent missing teeth. Using crowns that fit over your healthy teeth as anchors, a bridge then supports one or more prosthetic teeth in between.

Like a tooth crown, a bridge is made of ceramic porcelain designed to complement your smile and restore chewing function.

Keeping your anchor teeth clean and plaque-free is the key to longevity for your bridge.

Dental implants can act as anchors for a bridge when you’re managing the loss of multiple teeth. They can also replace a single tooth with a porcelain crown as the restoration.

Intraoral Scanner in North York

Intraoral Scanner

With an intraoral scanner, we can create a virtual map of your mouth to create more precise-fitting appliances and restorations and deliver optimal treatment outcomes. The dentist uses an intraoral scanner to create digital impressions, which allow us to create a computer-generated model of your mouth’s soft and hard tissues.

Unlike traditional methods like using mirrors, x-rays or impression trays, the digital model lets the dentist view the patient’s mouth on a computer screen. Once the dentist takes the digital impression, we can immediately send it to the dental lab, where specialists quickly and accurately fabricate crowns, bridges, dentures, and other restorations.

Intraoral scanners are a crucial component of modern dentistry, as they allow us to provide more accurate restorations and foster more efficient relationships with our dental lab partners. Many dentists also prefer using intraoral scanners for digital impressions to improve the patient experience by reducing chair time and the overall frequency of dental visits.
