Dental Implants North York

middle aged man and woman smiling while cuddling on couch in north yorkThe loss of a tooth is devastating in many ways. For example, smiling and interacting with others may feel embarrassing because of your lost tooth. There are also consequences for your dental health when you’re missing a tooth.

Without a tooth root to support it, your jawbone begins to dissolve or deteriorate. When you lose bone, you may lose support for surrounding teeth. Bone loss can even change the appearance of your face.

A missing tooth may also promote the shifting of neighbouring teeth into the open space, resulting in bite misalignment and increasing your risk of developing painful jaw joint problems, gum disease, and tooth decay.

Dental implants offer our patients an excellent solution for replacing one or multiple teeth. With Dr. Joo’s extensive skills and training, we’re able to make dental implants in North York accessible to almost every patient, even if they’ve experienced severe bone loss due to gum disease.

Smile Like a Pro: Benefits of Dental Implants

Losing a tooth doesn’t mean your smile has to miss out on the fun. Dental implants are like the VIPs of tooth replacement—stylish, sturdy, and here for the long haul. Why are dental implants in North York a crowd favourite? Here are three reasons.

Super Strength

Dental implants are anchored into your jawbone, making them as close to a natural tooth as you can get. You can bite into your favourite foods without hesitation.

Natural Look and Feel

Dental implants blend seamlessly with your other teeth, so no one will guess you've had a little extra help in your smile. It’s like having your cake and eating it too.

Long-Lasting

Unlike other options, dental implants can last a lifetime with proper care. For this reason, dentists and patients alike consider dental implants the gold standard.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that restores both your tooth and your root since the implant itself acts as your new root, and a porcelain crown replaces your tooth.

While losing a root may not seem like a big deal, it can actually result in bone loss. When your bone deteriorates, you may lose support for surrounding teeth, and it can even change the appearance of your face.

Dental implants give you the look, feel, and function of a natural tooth. They're also easy to care for since you'll be able to brush and floss them just like you would your natural teeth.

Proper Care of Dental Implants

Tooth implants in North York can provide you with excellent longevity when you commit to a consistent home care routine along with preventive teeth cleanings and checkups with your dentist every six months. With excellent care, your implant could even last for a lifetime, making it a wise, long-term investment in your smile and dental health.

Replacing a lost tooth not only restores your smile but also keeps neighbouring teeth from shifting and moving, ultimately resulting in bite misalignment that could promote jaw joint issues.

The answer is yes! If you have dental implants, you'll still need routine teeth cleanings and checkups every six months.

If you have full dentures with no natural teeth remaining, a checkup once per year to evaluate the fit of your denture and the health of your mouth is necessary.

If you have a partial denture with healthy teeth remaining, you will need a professional dental cleaning and checkup every six months.

Caring for Dental Implants in North York

Excellent home care and routine checkups with your dentist are integral to caring for your dental implant and keeping it healthy.

Infection is the enemy of a dental implant, causing it to fail. When you keep your teeth clean and bacteria-free, you also protect your dental health and promote the longevity of your tooth implant.

Caring for Dentures in North York

Traditional removable dentures rely on a snug fit to your jawbone to stay in place. This can wear on your jawbone, causing deterioration over time that can impact the fit of your denture.

Most patients need a denture reline periodically to ensure a snug and comfortable fit for their appliance.

Our dentists can help determine the right schedule for checkups and denture maintenance. Contact your North York dentist at (437) 900-8266 if it's time for your next dental appointment.

How Dental Implants Restore Your Smile

A dental implant has a biocompatible titanium base that Dr. Joo will carefully place into your jawbone. Because of its biocompatibility, your implant will gradually fuse and integrate with your bone, just like your tooth root. After it heals and integrates, your implant supports your new tooth, a porcelain crown we design to blend with your smile.

Your dental implant protects your bone and keeps it healthy and stimulated, while your replacement crown protects your smile and prevents teeth from shifting.

Dental Implants in North York, ON Can Work for Everyone

Because dental implants require plenty of healthy bone to support them, many people who have suffered from bone loss were often told that they weren’t a good candidate for an implant illustration of dental implant and crown from north york officeprocedure.

Dr. Joo’s advanced training allows him to help rebuild a jawbone that’s been compromised due to bone loss with a procedure called bone grafting. During bone grafting, Dr. Joo applies new and healthy bone structure to your own to rebuild your jawbone. The new bone takes a few months to heal and integrate with your jawbone, and then it can successfully support a dental implant.

To achieve optimum results, during the bone grafting procedure, Dr. Joo utilizes Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) treatment. This process uses the patient’s own stem cells directly from a small amount of their blood. PRF treatment is leading-edge technology, it’s pain-free, and it accelerates healing both during and after the bone grafting procedure.
